Two members of the former Shipley Local History Society have produced books on subjects relating to the history of Shipley. The Water Mills of Shipley, by Bill Hampshire (Shipley Local History Society 2000), is primarily about the early water mill at Hirst Wood. The book is now out of print, but available from the Bradford Libraries. In The Shadow Of The Rosse, by Ian Watson (2006), follows the evolution of an enclosure field, and the subsequent development of a group of four streets of back-to-back houses on the site, which is close to Saltaire Roundabout. This is also available from the Bradford Libraries. Double-click either picture above to read the books Requires the use of Adobe Acrobat Reader |
